virtualbox fullscreen flashing #59

using 25.4 (git 11/14/2023) on Elive 3.8.39+ Bookworm

When starting up a virtualbox instance and setting to fullscreen, on starting the guest-OS the screen starts flashing wildly without means to move away to another desktop or to go back (Ctrl+F) to "windowed" mode.

Once the guest-OS has booted fully, there's a certain moment where a click stops the flashing and alows for some manipulation.

try move the mouse away from the vbox window. this seems like a focus problem - focus goes to the fulslcreen vbox window then back to the other vbox window then back to the fullscreen vbox and so on. i dont know why - pointer focus? iws vbox itself driving focus changes?

damn., vbox does weird stuff.. i suspect its trying to enforce some special focus and window geometry and stuff and fighting with e...

Well actually the focused window has a green text in the titlebar and the other VBox window never gets that ... i.e the focus stays with the same window.

E16 had/has a similar weird issue where there are visible artifacts when the guest-os window starts-up/resizes.
Where in E16 that's just a weird thingy, this flashing and not benig able to get away from it, (until the guest-os has booted into X11) is quite messy.
As said, moving to another virtual desktop doesn't work (suspecting Vbox has already hijacked the keys for that) but jumping to TTY1-6 does work...where going into TTY7 just shows the flashing. There's no logic in that. :(

Not going fullscreen (or starting as such) works seamlessly.

I tested some more but if the guest-os is fully started into X11 and I prompt fullscreen with "Ctrl+F" the flashing also starts.
Jumping to other desktops with i.e "Alt+F1" does work but the application there doesn't get a focus with a click in any way.
Strangely it does allow "guake" to open with F12 and that does get the focus to be able to type i.e kill VirtualBox.

BTW,
Using Virtualbox 7.0.10-dfsg-3

Installed Virtualbox 7.0.12-159484~Debian~bookworm from Oracle ..... same issue.

Moving away with Alt+F1 or F2 allows guake to appear with key F12 (all other windows refuse to focus). Also PrtSc key allows screenshot but there's no focus or access to the screenshot buttons.

On E26.0 now.

Looking at finding why this is happening (and not succeeding in any way) I do notice a common denominator with:
#60

All instances with mentioned rendering issues use Qt5 and in one way or another involve fullscreen(F11).

This includes another Qt based application: "ghostwriter" when i.e right-clicking on a link in the preview pane.
