This concerns Ticket #109: Add Lua support for Edje

It adds Lua as scripting facility to Edje, letting Embryo untouched.
It should be easier to use and be more flexible than Embryo, imho ;-)

The patch
---

Lua 5.1 is used in sandboxed mode. Lua byte code is not
platform/architecture independent, Lua code is saved as text in the Edje
container and parsed at load time, therefore.

The patch goes in two directions

1) Analogous to Embryo for scripting logic, messaging and custom states.
The same things are implemented as in Embryo:

    - messaging from and to C
        - manual creation of timers, animators, pollers for custom events /
            animations
                - manual manipulation of Edje parts by means of the public
                    edje_object_part_* and internal functions and custom states
                    
                        -> those routines are actually implemented as Lua
bindings to
    functions in Edje.h and Ecore.h
        -> the implementation is done in an object oriented way, so that the
            interface gives the feel of an object description language, pretty
                similar to EDC itself
                    -> combining custom states and custom animators allows
for fancy
    animations and transitions, e.g circular/spline translations or
        complex/conditional transitions, etc.
            -> this is just the same as Embryo does, but implemented in Lua, so
                nothing new here, actually
                
                2) Dynamic object creation and manipulation
                
                    - this interface stems from the 'script_only' objects in
Edje. Those
    objects are a kind of scriptable Edje counterparts to Evas_Smart
        objects. The infrastructure for Embryo is already there, but has
            never been used
                - I added this in Lua and added some first bindings to
experiment
    with
        - I thought it would be useful to allow for a limited dynamic
            creation of ui parts
                - We can create instances of groups from within the same Edje
                    container and use them just like the main Edje object as
stated in
    1)
        - And there are some stand-alone bindings to dynamically create
            Evas_Image, Evas_Table, Evas_Line, Evas_Polygon as examples
            
                -> this may be useful to decouple the program from the ui
even more,
    to be able to do things that have to be done in the program itself
        atm, but actually belong to the user interface, but need dynamic
            creation of objects or complex interactions
                -> those objects are manipulated manually with Lua bindings
to the
    corresponding edje_object_* and evas_object_* functions

    Discussion points
    ---
    
    Both stuff in 1) & 2) is functioning, but needs testing, feedback,
    improvements, ...
    
    Stuff in 1) can already fully replace Embryo scripting with Lua
    scripting. There still is space for improvements/additions, though.
    
    Of the stuff in 2), I think it may only make sense to add the dynamic
    creation of groups defined in the same Edje container.  Dynamic creation
    of other Evas_Objects makes not much sense, as most of them can already
    be used as Edje parts and be manipulated with custom states (apart from
    polygons and lines) and it would make the whole theming potentially more
    programing-like and much more susceptible for errors, etc.
    
    Would this be useful, or drop it all?
    
    The scripting should be there just for logic, conditionals, custom
    states and animations, not for a whole dynamic canvas, imho.
    
    There is a patch around with EXTERNAL Edje parts. Seems to be a better,
    faster, more secure way to extend Edje with custom objects.
    
    There would be the possibility of precompiling Lua code at compile time
    (edje_cc) for faster loading, but we would have to patch and run our own
    Lua version.
    The Lua parser is pretty fast, though, and using
    byte-converted/endianness-swapped byte-code does only pay off for Lua
    chunks of some kilo lines.
    Byte code also occupies much more space than text in the final Edje
    container, as it includes debug symbols.

    Cedric and Vincent told me, that the plan was to replace Embryo totally
    by Lua before the official release of Edje at the end of the year? So it
    would make sense to bring Lua to svn soon and look how it fits in, test,
    debug, adapt it further to the themers needs, decide on its final shape,
    GATHER SOME PEOPLE TO HELP ;-)

    - showcase.edj: shows usage of custom animators, custom states,
        messaging and the script_only object
            - test.edj: test cases of script usage and bindings (custom states,
                custom transitions, tween_states, animators, timers,
object_parts),
    but most of it are experimental script_only objects

WARNING: THIS CAN CAUSE RENDERING GLITCH AND OTHER WEIRD BEHAVIOUR WITH
	YOUR EDJE FILE. PLEASE REPORT ANY ALIEN STUFF.

	Note: This patch cache the result of _edje_part_recalc_single, until
	any relative part are moved, the object is resized or some property
	are changed (like during text set or color class set).

	Note: Be carefull when you call edje_object_size_min_restricted_calc,
	it's really an inderect heavy user of _edje_part_recalc_single and
	I wasn't able to bring it down.

	Note: This patch use more RAM, around 480 bytes per Edje state, so I
	don't recommand using it on a Desktop with a lot of CPU power.

Cedric BAIL 854f360739 * edje: Reduce sizeof (Edje_Calc_Params).
Note: It doesn't really impact edje memory foot print yet. But in
	the plan to do a computation cache inside edje, this structure
	will be used a lot (I am planning to do this feature at some point,
	but no ETA yet, and be reassured it will be optionnal so we can
	choose between CPU load or memory load).

	Note: As I was looking for similar area of improvements,
	Edje_Part_Description could really use an union to reduce it's size,
	but as we load this structure directly from an Eet file, we need
	union in Eet first. And this should be part of a comming Edje file
	format break.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 2e809f845f Interpolate text font size.
Often requested for animations that want to grow or shrink text
quickly. This is a faster alternative to using geometry with rel1/rel2
and "text.fit: 1 1;" since it does not need to figure out which size
fits better into that object.

I tested and it does not seem to introduce any regression. Also
checked with scale and text_class variations.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri f53febde32 Edje postponed calculations.
This makes use of new Evas_Smart_Class calculate() callback to
postpone calculations until render time, possible saving lots of
calculations to happen.

It is another try, with Cedric's changes to force recalculations when
requried (ie: just before doing some edje_object_*_get()), let's see
if this one solve found issues.

Cedric BAIL 25f4acee01 This is a quick fix for edje match memory consuption. It is not the best
solution, but the fastest to implement without breaking edje file format.

So now, when a callback or a program don't use globbing charactere (*, ?,
[] and \), the match are put in a little rbtree instead of the big automate
matrix.

This patch could potentially break edje user, if you experience anything
strange with your edje file, please report.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 0a75de51f0 Revert edje calculate optimizations.
Edje is tricky, it's event processing is too weird and Cedric's
changes to make it work are not working as expected. Edje freezes
itself while processing signals, but in mouse down cb it forces
recalculate, which seems was previously ignored, but now they are not.

We should look at how to fix this and then re-apply this patch.

Carsten Haitzler 23e2c9e035 support an edje scaling factor. parts can selectively say "yes.. scale me!"
:)... this allows e etc. to adapt to massivelyt different dpi screens with
slickness that even svg can't get to... why? you scale just what NEEDS
scaling (text, button sizes, and other limiting elements). other bits like
borders, padding etc. can remain pixel-perfect and thus the look is amazing.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 58a49c2f69 Add calculate callback to Evas_Smart_Class.
Some people is using it for some time now without problems, so I'm
adding it to SVN to get some broader use. Remember to recompile ALL
libraries that depend on Evas as it will change the
EVAS_SMART_CLASS_VERSION and old classes will fail to load.

This will also change Edje so it will postpone _edje_recalc() to
render time, calculate() callback, however some methods will force
early recalculation.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri d428d6ec1d Add some consts to Edje's API.
Some methods do no change object internal state and can be marked as
read only. In parallel have infamous edje_object_part_object_get() to
return a read-only object, so it's even more clear that one should not
touch this object state (either a cast or a compiler warning if you do
that!)

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 0db98a4d3f We need to force signed chars when we need the signal.
The type "char" is not defined to have a sign or not, for performance
issue some platforms (ie: ARM) define it as unsigned. If we need to
rely on the sign, must say so.

Carsten Haitzler 15cd1238db start some serious work on script_only edje objects - for efficiency sake i'm
having an almost parallel codepath for script_only objects - they dont get to
use the older edje api calls for part defined objects. they will have a new
set of calls specifically for them. it's partly done - very little available
now, but will expand. lots of fixme's.

Caio Marcelo de Oliveira Filho ea56c61eba Edje: adding support for ignore_flags.
Parts can choose to ignore Events with certain flags in event_flags. The default value is
to accept all events. The syntax for this is specifying in the part:

    ignore_flags: ON_HOLD;

I've tried to update Edje_Edit bits also.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 08bfdacdee Bugfix and refactor get of font based on text_class.
Edje tries to copy original style to font provided by text_class if
this have no style.

However code was supposing that text_class font always had more than
one occurrence, these separated with ',' and did not check if this is
not the case, so "e = strchr(',', tok);" was returning NULL and all
the math were using negative values.

The fix now does the proper checking, avoid one useless alloca() and
the respective copy, also doing the copies with memcpy() since sizes
are already known.

Refactory was done to make code simpler and also avoid having it
copied 3 times.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri b5d880093f Avoid using anonymous for often used structs.
My last patch fixed the compile problem, but really, we should use the
same struct for things that look/work the same, like rectangle,
position, etc.

This new patch brings that change back and add some named structs
(also typedef'ed so it conforms to E naming schema).

This commit just changes the header and adds an example of
benefit. Later I'll provide a more intrusive patch that reorganize
structures to make even better use of this.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 435dfe2a2a Reduce memory allocation for edje match.
Just allocate and build the match automate for callbacks and programs
only when required. On load for programs and when callbacks list has
been updated.

Gustavo Sverzut Barbieri 3500a5c059 Fix calculation of maximum values for swallow parts.
Due my last change, the code was broken by edjes without a group
min/max, this happens because edje_object_size_max_get() returns
100000 for these objects, and this was being used as object maximum
size.

Current fix is a hack: just check for this value, now known as
EDJE_INF_MAX_*, but the real solution would be to return 0 (or -1) and
check for it in other parts of the code, but it's harder to get right.

rephorm d4a055585b Add GROUP Parts to edje.
These can be used to automatically swallow in another group from the same file.

Parts within child groups can be referred to by a ':' separated 'full path' of
part names. Any API functions that take a part name will now accept a full path
also.

Signals emitted by child objects will be repeated up to the parents with the
source changed to be the path relative to the receiving object.  E.g in the
example below, a mouse moving over the lower light green rectangle would result
in the parent object recieving a "mouse,move" signal with source "bot:inner".

**** NEW RESTRICTION ****  part names should no longer include a ':' character.
This is not yet enforced by edje_cc, but will cause the part to be inaccessible
from the API.

this allows you to specify the default color for any parts using color_classes in a given file.

this color will be overridden by edje_color_class_set()
which will in turn be overridden by edje_object_color_class_set()

note. if you specify a color (color: ...) in a part description that also has a color_class, the cc will be multiplied against the color -- generally not what you want.

also, as a tip, the gimp's 'multiply' blend mode is almost exactly the same as evas/edje's coloring.

standard structs for messages, and i allow the message queue to fee itsel for
up to 8 iterations before forcing us to rever to normal loop processing
again. this shoudl cover most soignal emit/respond cases in normal usage
without forcing more loop to run and possibly a render.

Carsten Haitzler 7bd60e9cb0 busy adding some MEAT to edje's embryo script support. just added
"persistent" variables - ie tied to each instance of an edje object and you
can save/load via get_int() set_int() get_float() set_float(), get_str(),
get_strlen() and set_str(). the values are fetched/stored wherever you do
these calls. you need a public variable declaration to indicate you want to
use a global var, and use this variable handle as the variable index - edje
will init it for you.

e_logo.edc has some examples...
:)

this solves being able to keep state like if a check button is enabled or
disabled etc. etc. etc.
then i guess its onto the rest of the calls...

Carsten Haitzler 3d128a9cdc min.max size properties now per edje collection can be specified in the edje
.edc file and can be accessed. the min_size_get has become a min_size_calc
since it does actually calculate it.

also swallowed edjes will be queried for their own min/max size and that will
be used to further limit the part that swallows. also you can attach
properties to any old evas object so it will have min/max size properties
(maybe one day this can go into evas itself?). also swallowed objects if
deleted before the parent edje will "unswallow" themselves properly :)

Carsten Haitzler f212675a33 optimizing. Glassy's matrix.eet works MUCH faster now. basically edje was not
very efficient at matching hundreds of prgorams up to lots of signals always
ticking off. i've optimized it now with a match (and no_match) cache so if an
input signal (and source) combination is known not to match anything, it's
cached after the first full check and henceforth avoids extra checks. the
cache is realyl simply right now - i could optimize it a bit to avoid excess
memory usage though...

program. just provide an "in, 10.0 5.0;" line in the progrma to say "start
thew program in (10.0 + (random value from 0.0 - 5.0)_ seconds from the time

the only problem now is that no sample .edc files are shipped. I'll make one
or 2 better ones and include them.

Carsten Haitzler 5d7c4d02e0 we parse.... MORE! :) order is now irrelevant of how you delcare images or
parts and what they are relative to/use. the lookups are put off until just
before write-out. order of parts still is the stacking order though.

Carsten Haitzler 2f63ba5e91 edje_cc is beginning to do something. it parses the image section properly
and builds the memory data struct right, and writes the data struct out via
eet. need to parse the rest, build data structs and write them out ttoo. need
to write out images too.

Carsten Haitzler 3df3c11966 Added more geometry calculation code. This function is beginning to get
rather large, but then again so are the number of geometry parameters, so
it's only fair. This should cover calculating all parameters given a signle
descriptor and given rel_to_1, rel_to_2, confine_to objects. Only calculation
of text params is left. I think that will be as simpl as a "copy them across
from the description", but I may yet decided to complicate that a bit.
