this one was quite a huge work, but hopefully it's correct.
NOTES:
* removed vlc generic module, it should go into a separate package.
* gstreamer is enabled by default (see --disable-gstreamer)
* xine is disabled by default (see --enable-gstreamer)
* generic is always built statically if supported
* gstreamer and xine can't be configured as static (just lacks command line options, build system supports it)
* v4l2 is enabled by default on linux if eeze is built (see --disable-v4l2)
* emotion_test moved to src/tests/emotion and depends on EFL_ENABLE_TESTS (--with-tests), but is still installed if enabled.
TODO (need your help!):
* fix warnings with gstreamer and xine engine
* call engine shutdown functions if building as static
* remove direct usage of PACKAGE_*_DIR and use eina_prefix
* add eina_prefix checkme file as evas and others
* add support for $EFL_RUN_IN_TREE
* create separate package for emotion_generic_modules
* check docs hierarchy (doxygen is segv'in here)

* Split out ecore_imf_xim to do its own check
* Fixed problem with xcb's makekeys, no rule for
$(top_builddir)/src/utils/ecore/makekeys$(EXEEXT) exists so make
used an implicit rule (ignoring any cflags of course)
* Fixed gl_x11 engine to build with either Xlib or XCB (xcb flags were
missing)
* Added EFL_FIND_X and replace any used of AC_PATH_X{,TRA}. First
looks for Xorg pkg-config files then if those arn't found it falls
back to old AC_PATH_X. Also generalized common header and lib
checks. Could probably use some polishing (the AC_CACHE_VAL cruft
especially) but this is what I have time for tonight.
Now X11 should be found on non-standard locations by means of xmkmf,
--x-includes/--x-libraries and also pkg-config.

it's useful to copy file from one place to another and this will be
used in eio' s implementation.
NOTE: did not use mmap here as mmap faults may be cumbersome to handle
(Eina_File itself does that, but in a nasty way) and the
implementation would be severely different as there is no Eina_File
from FD, and there is no way to inject custom memory/fd into the
Eina_File's fault handling. The performance would not be that
different anyways and the splice() is already in there for systems

* fails when image is moved to negative x,y;
* fails when border was being used.

Implementing support for loadables modules. It makes the engines been
loaded when they are needed. It not breakes the api, so each engine
still has its own api.
The implementation basically is:
* Functions that creates Ecore_Evas, for example
ecore_evas_software_x11_new, request to load its module and then get
the module's function to create the Ecore_Evas.
* The other functions such as \(.*\)_window_get from the Ecore_Evas
its interface and then call the appropriate method.
* As there is no unified interface to communicate with the engines
(not break api problem), all interfaces were declared in
ecore_evas_private.h
* Now the data necessary for each module is not declared in the
Ecore_Evas_Engine structure, instead of this, the struct has a void
pointer that is used by the modules.
* In this first moment engines as software_x11 and gl_x11 were put

Including ECORE_LIBS in LDADD is not enough, we have to include the
relevant libs from efl as well (eina, evas, ...)

After agreement in the mail list, core developers agree to remove this
engine that was not being supported for a long time.
Given that most operations Evas uses are not accelerated in DirectFB,
or at least hardware that exclusively supports DirectFB, it's better
for those people to just use Evas/Ecore software (buffer) rendering
and expose DirectFB's framebuffer as destination surface.

Title : Re: Re: [E-devel] [RFC] Virtual desktop window profile
It looks ok to me.
Sorry but can you re-generate the patch according to the recent ecore
merge to efl single tree?

I've tested it and I can confirm that it's working fine with the new

If information like size, scale down, dpi or region is set to any object,
or even if reload of that object is required, evas_object_image_load() is
called and Evas needs to pass scaling information through load_opts as
evas_object_image_file_set() does to Cserve2 as well.

Cedric suggested that we migth not be able to open the cert files. And he
was right. The CERT_DIR define checked for an absolute path in TESTS_SRC_DIR
but that get set to .. in Makefile_Eet.am as it sits in src/. Now the define
evaluated to src/tests/eet/.. where no cert files could be found.
I could not see a good reason for the suffix here so I just removed it.
Vincent, if there was a reason I was not able to see please fix it in a
different way. It was the least invasisve fix I could see.

Also, fixed some minor Evas GL extension bugs that came from refactoring.

in direct rendering mode and then use a pixmap to do native

also fall into the direct rendering path and not render anything for

It doesn't affect proto/eobj so no need to do it there too.
There are things we only test if NDEBUG is not passed to Eo. Eo itself was
compiled with NDEBUG but the tests were not notified about it so those tests
failed.
Many thanks to Vincent and Stefan for bugging me about it non-stop, without
you guys, I may never have gotten to it.

This pointer could be NULL if the window was hidden before calling
glMakeCurrent, which would make the program crash. In fact, at least
elm_win hides the window before actually deleting it (thus calling this
function).

We need to pass -sse3 to compile only in the file that checks for SSE3.
Otherwise even for plain C compiler is free to use sse3 instructions. But they
won't work if the CPU doesn't support it and therefore will SIGILL.

ISSUE: Eina_Unicode size check. It indirectly depends on
eina_config.h, which is created at the end of the
configure script. So its size is always 0. I don't
know how that size is used, so I can't do a lot,
for now.

When creating the rules to build, we can't declare the lib dependencies in
LDADD/LIBADD using $(top_builddir)/libbla.la because automake doesn't know this
is related to the libbla_la rule.
Please check if evil works, too. Since I don't run evil code, it's untested.

note2: distcheck does not work because eo_suite is failing.

* line 142, is it normal that we call eina_list_append() with tw being NULL ?
* is what I did in the close_thread label correct ?

eina headers used to be in their own directory, but now they live
inside src/lib/eina. The mempools were still including
include/lib/eina/ and with "sed" they became src/lib/eina/, which
already existed.
SVN revision: 77837
it's still not merged into EFL single tree, but once it is we should
use "HAVE_EXOTIC" define to work with it.
Before we had: EINA_HAVE_EXOTIC (not used), HAVE_EXOTIC_H (used by
eina_module.c). Since the other libs are all defined as HAVE_LIBNAME,
we're using HAVE_EXOTIC everywhere now.
SVN revision: 77816
it's pointless to have this and may cause problems or complex
configure.ac when we have libraries that use 'eet' during its compile
phase (like elementary generates its profile/configuration).
SVN revision: 77815
Now we always build the following memory pools statically:
- pass_through: calls malloc/free directly, useful to debug.
- chained_pool: default for ages.
- one_big: used by some embedded systems (should we remove?)
Removed:
- ememoa_fixed and ememoa_unknown: depends on a separate lib, not supported?
- buddy: nobody uses it?
NOTE: we do not need the src/modules/eina/mp/*/Makefile.am anymore
since they are statically built. But I'll keep these and the
references in src/modules/eina/mp/Makefile.am
SVN revision: 77792
Introduced --with-profile={dev,release} that will simplify how to set
build options of EFL.
NOTE-1: specific e17 benchmark is now gone, it will always be built
and is the default benchmark for eina. If we want to have a faster
benchmark in the future, just add a command line option for
eina_suite.
NOTE-2: valgrind build is broken as it needs -fPIC. Will get to it
later. Likely someone needs to revisit the eina mempools for valgrind
and other basic tools (eo? likely evas).
SVN revision: 77771
I can't be sure that distcheck is fixed as the check of eet is failing.
I've disable the run of the eina test for now as it is *very* long. I'll
